Behind the Photo
This photo was taken at one of the world’s most iconic surf spots — Old Man’s Beach in Canggu, Bali, Indonesia. It was two days before I flew back to Los Angeles, wrapping up my 2-month trip throughout Southeast Asia. Around 7:30 a.m., I motorbiked down to the Old Mans to photograph my Swiss friends for a morning surf. As they paddled out into the lineup, when this moment caught my eye: this lone surfer against the shimmering water, scanning the horizon. Her stance almost mirrored the tranquility of the scene — reading the sea like a map only she could interpret.
